Patient Process
Patient Process
We believe bariatric surgery can be a useful tool to provide long term success. Our objectives include creating a positive environment where we educate patients, discuss a plan, and provide excellent patient care.
Step 1 – Patient Consultation
During your new patient consultation you will meet with Dr. Carlton, ask questions, discuss goals, and determine the best plan/surgery.
Step 2 – Meet with Coordinator
You will meet with our Bariatric Coordinator to discuss insurance requirements, financing options, and you will receive a schedule for all pre-operative appointments, testing, labs, etc.
Step 3 – Complete Pre-Surgery
Pre-surgical requirements are based on several factors including medical history and specific insurance plans. Our team will work with you to ensure all labs, tests, appointments, and clearances are completed prior to surgery.
Step 4 – Surgery Day
You will have a designated arrival time, surgery time and facility location. Bring you home medications with you to review with the team. Dr. Carlton and the anesthesiologist will visit with you in the pre-op holding area. Depending on the surgeries require an overnight stay in the hospital.
Step 5 – Ongoing Follow Up
Our team will be in contact with you after surgery, checking on your status & ensuring you have all the information needed for a healthy recovery. Follow up appointments are crucial. This part if the process ensures you stay on track, it’s essential to follow up to monitor current status and bloodwork.
