Patient Process

How Patient Process Works?

We believe bariatric surgery can be a useful tool to provide long term success. Our objectives include creating a positive environment where we educate patients, discuss a plan, and provide excellent patient care.

Step 1

Step 1 - New Patient Consultation with Dr. Carlton

New Patient Consultation with Dr. Carlton

During your consultation you will meet with Dr. Carlton, ask questions, discuss goals and determine the best plan/surgery. 

Step 2

Meet with Bariatrics Coordinator

You will meet with our Bariatric Coordinator to discuss insurance requirements, financing, options, and you will receive a schedule for all pre-operative appointments, testing, labs, etc.

Step 3

Complete Pre-Surgical Requirements

Pre-surgical requirements are based on several factors including medical history and specific insurance plans. Our team will work with you to ensure all labs, tests, appointments, and clearances are completed prior to surgery. Approximately 2 weeks before surgery, you will meet with Dr. Carlton and staff to review medications, pre-operative diet, surgery days details and discuss any questions or concerns.

Step 4

Surgery Day

You will have a designated arrival time, surgery time and facility location. Bring you home medications with you to review with the team. Dr. Carlton and the anesthesiologist will visit with you in the pre-op holding area. Depending on your surgery, you might be required to stay overnight in the hospital.

Ongoing Follow Up

Our team will be in contact with you after surgery, checking on your status and ensuring you have all the information needed for a healthy recovery. Follow up appointments are crucial. This part of the process ensures you stay on track, it’s essential to follow up to monitor current status and bloodwork.
