Overcome Obesity with Confidence

Primary Bariatric Procedures

At LoneStar Bariatrics, we offer a full spectrum of advanced, minimally invasive weight-loss surgeries tailored to your health needs, goals, and medical history. Each procedure works differently, and choosing the right one is a highly personalized decision.

  • Gastric sleeve
  • Gastric bypass
  • Duodenal switch (DS)
  • Adjustable gastric banding (Lap-Band)
  • Revision bariatric surgery
  • SADI/SIPS
  • Magnetic surgery/MARS
  • Robotic bariatric surgery
Gastric Sleeve

Gastric sleeve surgery permanently reduces the stomach’s volume to about 15-20% of its original volume. During the procedure, a large portion of the stomach is removed, leaving a narrow, tube-shaped “sleeve.” This limits how much food you can eat while reducing hunger hormones, which helps you feel full sooner and stay satisfied longer. Weight loss occurs primarily through restriction, making this suitable for patients seeking significant results.

Gastric Bypass

Gastric bypass surgery changes the size of the stomach and how food moves through the digestive system. A small stomach pouch is created and connected to the intestine, bypassing a portion of the digestive process. This leads to reduced calorie absorption and earlier fullness, while also triggering favorable metabolic changes. Gastric bypass is especially effective for patients with obesity-related conditions such as type 2 diabetes or severe acid reflux.

Duodenal Switch

The duodenal switch combines stomach reduction with intestinal bypass to achieve powerful and durable weight loss. The procedure begins with a sleeve gastrectomy, followed by rerouting a significant portion of the small intestine. This limits both food intake and calorie absorption. DS offers some of the best long-term weight-loss outcomes and metabolic benefits, but it requires lifelong nutritional monitoring and strict follow-up to maintain optimal health.

SADI/SIPS Surgery

SADI/SIPS is a modified version of the duodenal switch that simplifies the procedure while preserving strong weight-loss results. It involves creating a gastric sleeve and bypassing a portion of the small intestine using a single intestinal connection. This reduces surgical complexity and may lower certain risks while still delivering meaningful restriction and malabsorption. SADI/SIPS is ideal for patients who need substantial weight loss.

Additional Procedures

Gastric Revision Surgery

Gastric revision surgery is for patients who have previously undergone weight-loss surgery but are no longer achieving the desired results or are experiencing complications. This procedure corrects anatomical changes, such as a stretched stomach or enlarged connections, that can reduce effectiveness over time. Revision surgery may involve reshaping the stomach, revising connections, or converting one procedure to another to support renewed weight loss.

Gastric Balloon

A gastric balloon is a non-surgical, temporary weight-loss option that involves placing a soft silicone balloon inside the stomach. Once positioned, the balloon is filled with saline to take up space, helping you feel full with smaller meals. The balloon is typically removed after several months and works best when combined with structured lifestyle changes. This option is often used for patients who are not ready for surgery or who need modest weight loss.

BariClip

BariClip is a minimally invasive procedure that places a specialized clip along the stomach to create restriction without removing stomach tissue. By limiting expansion, BariClip reduces portion sizes and promotes earlier fullness while preserving normal digestion. Because the stomach is not permanently altered, this may appeal to patients seeking a reversible or less invasive approach to weight loss. This method is only suitable for some patients.

ROSE Procedure

The ROSE procedure (Restorative Obesity Surgery, Endolumenal) is an endoscopic revision option for those who have regained weight after gastric bypass. Using specialized tools passed through the mouth, the procedure tightens the stomach and outlet without external incisions. ROSE helps restore restriction, slow gastric emptying, and improve fullness, all while offering reduced downtime compared to traditional revision surgery.

Non-Surgical Weight Loss

For patients who are not ready for surgery or do not meet surgical criteria, LoneStar Bariatrics offers non-surgical weight-loss options. These programs emphasize medically guided weight management, nutrition counseling, and lifestyle support to help you reduce weight safely and effectively. With close medical oversight and ongoing guidance, non-surgical weight loss can improve metabolic health, build healthier habits, and serve as a bridge to bariatric surgery.

Abdominal Surgery

At LoneStar Bariatrics, we provide abdominal surgical care using minimally invasive techniques to reduce pain, limit scarring, and support faster recovery. Abdominal surgery may be recommended to treat conditions affecting the gallbladder, abdominal wall, or digestive system when non-surgical options are no longer effective. Our team evaluates your symptoms to recommend the most appropriate solution.

Cholecystectomy

Cholecystectomy is the surgical removal of the gallbladder, most often performed to treat gallstones or gallbladder inflammation. Using minimally invasive laparoscopic or robotic techniques, the gallbladder is safely removed through small incisions. This allows bile to flow directly from the liver into the small intestine, relieving symptoms while preserving normal digestion for most patients.

Hernia Surgery

Hernia surgery repairs weakened or torn abdominal muscle where tissue or organs push through, creating a visible bulge and discomfort. The procedure involves returning the tissue to its proper position and reinforcing the abdominal wall, often with surgical mesh. Minimally invasive techniques reduce postoperative pain and lower recurrence rates while restoring strength and function to the abdominal wall.

Reflux Surgery

Reflux surgery treats chronic gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) when medications fail to offer relief. This procedure strengthens the valve between the esophagus and stomach, thus preventing acid from flowing backward. By restoring this barrier, reflux surgery reduces heartburn, regurgitation, and esophageal irritation, offering long-term symptom relief while improving overall quality of life.
